I have been stranded now 3 times in the past year - Gearbox malfunction - car goes into "limp mode" so that I can get off the highway at no more than 5 mpg. Dealer now tells me that I have the issue described here. The coolant has mixed with the transmission fluid, contaminated it and caused the transmission to fail. I am scheduled for a new transmission, new radiator and they tell me I need new front and back brakes. I have 25K miles on the car! I spoke with an attorney, sent a letter to Saab and reported it to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA of the DOT) - http://www.NHTSA.dot.gov - important to report this issue to them. It is just now started to manifest itself and it is serious!
