2003-2011 [Subscribe to Daily Digest] |
I know I'm probably not going to much sympathy here, but I need to ask some advice to make a decision. I have a 2003 9-5 Aero on a lease that is up in several months. I have started to look around at other cars and here is where I am:
BMW 535 - Just ok. I think it looks too much like an older Pontiac Grand Am!
Audi A6 - not crazy about the new front end style.
Lexus GS430 - Nice styling, but didn't tickle my fancy
Mercedes E320 - good car, not my type. Plus I have heard of ongoing quality isues
2006 Saab 9-5 Aero - Great cars, but I have had 3 already, and I am ready for change.
2006 Saab 9-7x - Also very nice, but I don't need another SUV. My wife already has a gas hog.
2006 Infiniti M45 Sport - Wow, great car, but wow, what a price!!! Excellent performance, great features, and probably my #1 choice.
I thought my decisions was made until my dealer let me borrow a new 2006 9-3 Aero Convertible. WOW!!! I am blown away. What a fantastic car. The fit and finish is unbelievable. That new V6 motor is excellent. No torque steer, and I think is torquier and less peaky than the HOT 2.3l in the 9-5 Aero. It is very solid and smooth riding, and surprisingly quiet, and that top - what an engineering feat! It was a lovely sunny 40 deg day here in the Northwest, and I was wheeling around with the top down all day, never got cold once. As you can tell, I am very impressed. I do have a few concerns (questions)that i am hoping others can help with:
1) How has the long term reliability of the 9-3's been? I have had very few issues with my 9-5's and wonder if these are the same;
2) How about the convertible? How is the reliability with that?
3) How are these cars in the winter? My 9-5 is excellent with a good set of Nokian winter tires, but how about the 9-3?
4) Any issues with the overall space and comfort in the cars?
As you can see, this convertible is quickly changing my mind from the Infiniti. Any expert advice from other Saab-o-philes would be welcome.
Thanks!
Happy Motoring
