Fuel Quality Warning

A previous message reminded me of the fuel system seminar held at the last Saab Owner's Convention, and my bypassing yesterday of a gas station that was receiving a shipment.
The fuel filter in the 9-3SS (SC and SCV) is integral with the fuel pump. You are well advised to steer clear of situations which might prematurely load up the filter - such as a station receiving a shipment (stirs up whatever is in the bottom of the storage tanks).
Note that the new filter arrangement isn't some diabolical scheme to sell fuel pumps - it is essentially required by the most recent evaporative emission standards. They are so strict that the fuel line connections to an external filter would alone contribute a large percentage of the allowable emissions.
And, by the way, don't keep a cow as a pet - their emissions are orders of magnitude greater than your Saab's....
