I have the same interest as you - hoping for 10+ years out of my 2006 9-3 SS 2.0T 5spd. I got 12 years out of a Grand Cherokee, so...
When buying a car, the keys to durability are
* you liking the car
* proven components
* simplicity
* reasonable (but not slavish) maintenance
You took a chance with the 2.8T. Everything looks great about it, but it might have issues. The 2.0T is proven over a 20-year span. Saab and GM both have excellent powertrain reputations. But a first year is a first year. You know that as well as anyone.
Still, Saabs are well positioned to be 15-year cars. They are so much simpler than Audis or newer BMWs. That pays off big time past 100k miles. Also, good body metal helps. Acuras rust much faster than Saabs in the snow belt. It's not even funny! Wait, yes, rusty 1996 Acuras are sort of funny.
IMO changing oil at 5k (particularly with Mobil 1) is silly overkill in this car. Save your money for when maintenance really does matter. Chances are you won't be willing to replace those struts at 100k miles, but it will need to be done.
