Electronic Stability - how to turn it back on??

Hi,
I have a 2005 Saab 9-3. Yesterday I was driving home on a snow covered road and when I went over a very small snow drift in first gear, a light came on on my dashboard. Upon looking in the manual I found that this light means "stability control failure" and suggests that I "contact Saab dealer". Apparently my Electronic Stability Program (ESP) has failed. The light on the dashboard is a triangle with a picture of a skidding car inset. The triangle has a diagonal line through it.
Is there a way to fix this problem without going to the dealer? I live 5+ hours from our dealer.
Also, I purchased this car because I was impressed with how well my previous car, a Saab 900, handled in the deep snow and uncertain road conditions in my area. Is this ESP system going to continue to be a problem for me when driving? I was not racing or otherwise driving recklessly, just slowly driving down uneven, snowy terrain. I do not want to have to run to a dealer every time this happens, because if that's all it takes, this will happen a lot, I imagine.
Your knowledge is much appreciated, thank you!
