I don't know exactly what's going on, but my new car has behaved exactly as indicated in the owner's manual. The manual says that fuel economy will be lower for the first 4,000 miles. With mine, it seems like the mpg's have jumped at almost exactly 4,000 miles. Some of it might be temperature related here in Michigan, but I went from averaging around 27 mpg to 30+ mpg with mostly highway driving. I also have used various brands of premium fuel.
Has anybody else noticed an instant step-up in fuel economy on their 2.0T? I think I'll do an oil change on my own soon and then let the dealer do the free one at 10,000 miles.
