I have an 03 Vector that has the same engine and it does the same thing. In the manual the RPM at idle is 700 and when the car (software) senses no demand for power it will drop it to 700 rpm. After driving it stays at 900 for a while, I guess to make sure that if you want to go fast right away your engine is ready. I've been trying to figure out why it takes different time to drop from 900 to 700 for almost 3 years, but can't find a pattern. Sometimes in the city driving it will drop down to 700 at every stop light, sometimes it will stay at 900.
At 700 there are some slight vibrations, but it should save some gas for you.
