I have pondered this too but when I asked my local indy, he recommended I stick w/ the factory oil. They used to use Redline a lot but stopped because they started having issues w/ bearings wearing out prematurely. Apparently, Redline was not good for longevity. (Please note this was a couple months ago that I spoke w/ him and I kind of forgot the exact details. Hopefully someone w/ more mechanical knowledge can respond with greater accuracy than me.)
That said, I put Redline gear oil in my Alfetta a few years back and it was as if I had replaced the entire transmission; it made a world of difference. Anyone who knows the Alfetta can attest to how bad the transmissions grind. You think the Saab 6-sp is notchy?!? Oh you have no idea. ;-) Alfa perfected the art of the grind.
So to make a short-story long, according to my indy, it is not recommended. But, I too am curious if anyone has put Redline in their Saab.
