It's noted in a post above that "God bless the folks who can afford a European vacation and a new car". Unlike in previous generations, European vacations can be cheap.
I bought my car by European delivery and probably spent less than $100 on the vacation! I did go in the early spring, well before tourist season and the higher airfares. I could have paid $400 for airfare but chose to use a frequent flyer award. Saab paid for 2 nights of hotel (to compensate for a mistake) and I stayed at a super-cheap place for 1 night. Swedish hotels include breakfast and Saab's selected hotel has one dinner. If there were a Swedish tourism auditor, they would call me an "ugly American" not because I talked loudly but because I hardly spent any money in Sweden!
On the other hand, if you take 2 family members in the summer, you can easily eat up the $2000 check that Saab USA gives you that it calls "travel money".
