Just finished a trip from Los Angeles to Stockton and back, about 5 hours each way, some adjust for city traffic, 700 mi round trip, and had to post because the car was a thrill. very comfortable and solid all around, high speed hit was a tester on open highway to 110 mph and felt room for more, SID reading (MPG) hit my record high of 28.2 w/ average speeds of 80 to 90 for a good duraton. I know there is some lack of accuracy w/ the SID but still felt positive. I have the Auto and found myself parked in manual mode for a good period of time - down shift from 6th to 5th and back for passing was the ticket for clearing truck jams. My only downpoint was at a filling station when I found that my plastic gas cap hanger - inside the gas door - was somehow missing/broken off? My first cosmetic wound and I am not sure how this Happened. Could be a result of some of the minor cost cutting short cuts which is one of my only gripes on the 9-3 ( some cheaper plastics used)
another quick note. Before the trip I did a 5000mi oil change at an independent (10,000 mi just seems to long) found the link on this site to Walter Wong, Right Solution, in LA. I called him on a Saturday and he told me to bring it in. When I got there they moved some cars aside, pulled mine in, offered me a complimentary soda from the frig in the waiting room (lot's of great Saab reading here). He had me out in 15 min and on my departure thanked me for allowing him to work on "such a beautiful car" Wow - Highly recommend this place and so glad I have a great independent so close to home
Anyway, sorry to blather on, had to share. Hope all are enjoying the Saab Experience
