No offense, but does anyone use the search engine?

To answer your question, I have an '06 Aero SC w/auto with 13k miles already. I've plotted my gas mileage on an Excel spreadsheet and I have been averaging around 20MPG over that period. On the highway, you can get 28mpg or better (36+mpg w/cruise control at 70mph). I tend to get 24-26mpg on the Interstate with a heavy foot. In the city, I practice little self restraint (mashing the accelerator is F-U-N), so my mileage is between 16-20mpg.

To put these numbers in perspective, I also have a '05 Honda Odyssey EX-L (20mpg city/28mpg HWY). I've also plotted the mileage on an Excel spreadsheet and its gas mileage is much worse. Over 16k miles, the Ody has been getting on average of 17mpg. Its best highway mileage has been nearly 25mpg-a figure my Aero SC gets fairly easy (and at higher cruising speeds).

The Aero price penalty compared to the 2.0T is low when you consider that it comes with more standard features (no need for Premium package), as well as features not available to the 2.0T (larger wheels, tires, bigger brakes, sports suspension, aero body cladding, ESP Plus (a less intrusive ESP program)). Throw in the Aero Academy (2 day driving school at Road Atlanta) and it's really a bargain. (add that stuff ex post facto and you'll wish you had the Aero version anyway)

If that not important to you and gas mileage is, then save your money and get the 2.0T. In the end, it's still a great car. That said, you may end up having buyer's remorse when you think long and hard of the advantages of the '06 Aero (gas mileage notwithstanding).

Good luck with your decision! Any way you slice it, you're getting a SAAB! :D
