I had the install done on my 2003 9-3 Liner that's got the SID infotainment installed. The sound is great, but I recommend weighing the following
Pros:
- You can hide the iPod in the storage box between the front seats, where the aux. cable input gets installed. It's a theft deterrent.
- You can plug an iPod auto charger into the power adapter in the same box.
- Volume adjustment can be controlled from the steering wheel.
- Bass and treble can be twiddled with on the infotainment system.
Cons
- There is *absolutely no way* to flip between songs, playlists, etc. using the stereo infotainment setup, even after adding Saab's current MP3 aux. input jack. That goes for 2003 - 2006 models.
- Unlike Saab, other cars have iPod jacks that also integrate with the car's stereo system to let you view and flip between songs, etc, without having to look at the iPod (see http://www.apple.com/ipod/ipodyourcar/)
- Hopefully, Saab will get its act together and do a major software upgrade for folks who've got the aux. input installed, so that they can actually use their iPods safely while driving by controlling the unit's via the steering wheel.
