unfortunately I don't have the answer. I have stared at the underside of the armrest lid on more than one occasion, thought there might be a way to put some sort of clip or fastener to hold in place? My 4 your old likes to "surf" the armrest lid from the backseat to the front seat when parked - of course she knows it drives her Dad nuts..
