I've had my SC 2.0T 5-M/T for about four months and 4,400 miles now. I'ts a pleasure to drive, much more refined than my previous ride. (1995 900S, 5-M/T, n/a) It certainly feels less saab-like than the older ones, but it still has a distinct feel, and although virtually EVERY part has the GM logo on it, nothing about it feels like any GM product that I've owned. Some of the little niceties from the previous generation have been removed, unfortunately; weatherband, front reversing lights, locking fuel door to name a few :-((
Although I would have preferred that Saab had came out with a real hatch, the wagon layout of the SC does give you more room for all your stuff.
Not certain what part of the world you're in, so the following comments may or may not apply if you're not in the US, as most option packages are location specific.
I chose the 2.0T (210 hp-4) over the Aero (250 hp-V6) primarily for the dollar difference, both initially and over time. The Aero was almost $3000 USD more.(MSRP, each one equipped for my preferences)
Factor in higher fuel consumption, slightly higher insurance, and the need to get winter wheels and tires and the Aero was just getting too expensive for my budget. Also, I do all of my own maintaince and repairs and the V6 engine compartment did not look like a fun place to hang out.
The 210hp 2.0T is a really sweet engine mated to the 5-M/T. 1st gear is pretty mellow, as boost is limited by the ECU. Acceleration in second, third, and fourth is impressive, hard to believe a 2.0 L four can pull like this from about 1800RPM on up. I never tried the V6 nor the auto-box, so I can't say that I know what I might be missing. If there was one feature from the Aero that I could add to my car, it would be the seats. The ones on the 2.0T are fine, but there isn't much bolstering to hold you in place when your pushing it to the limit. Speaking of that, the handling is much improved over the previous generation.
Also, if you want a decent factory audio system, you'll want the 300W/10 speaker system, standard on the Aero, and part of the premium pkg. on the 2.0T.
I took the '95 900S for a spin yesterday (it's now my 17 yr. old sons car), and I must admit, it felt quite primative compared to the SC.
Take a SC for a test drive, I think you'll like it.
