When I saw Ron's post I went out and checked my radio (01 conv.)
He's right in that if you fade 100% to the rear speakers, you lose the speakers on the top of the dash as well as the door speakers. In my setup, the door speakers are subwoofers and are powered by a seperate amp located behind the kick panel on the left side of the passenger leg area. When I started looking at why my door speakers weren't working, I first checked to see that there was 12V at the sub amp. Power was there, but in tracing the black wire that contains the input signal to the amp, I noticed it had come disconected at the back of the radio - no signal, no sound. Not broken - just unplugged. Instant cure, and much better sound. The connector, as I recall, was a round multipin job that was notched to fit in with proper pin alignment. Too bad the subs aren't designed to function when you don't want to use the front dash speakers, but for me that would be rare anyway.
