The 9-3 SC is actually larger in front headroom, legroom and shoulder room, but the X3 is marginally larger in rear headroom, legroom and shoulder room. Both have the same cargo capacity at approx 30cu ft (rear seat up), but the 9-3 SC beats it by a little more than one cube (72.3 vs 71.0) with the seats down. (just checked KBB and Edmunds)
Take in consideration that the X3 weighs nearly 800lbs more, with 25hp less than the 9-3 Aero SC (but same fuel economy) and a $4k higher price-sounds like you got a great deal! :p
FWIW, the 325xi is hands down better than the X3 (for practicality), since the X3 isn't really an off-roader (but that's just my opinion). if I had to pick out of X3 vs 325xi, I'd pick the 325xi every day of the week and twice on Sundays.
