I just picked up our 5th Saab, an '06 9-3 Aero sedan, I love it so far for 2 days. We have had a '94 and '95 900, '99 9-3 convertible, and 2000 9-3 SE sedan. The 1994 and 2000 were the best cars of the 4. The '95 was a lemon, and the '99 had many issues with suspension and before we sold were told it needed a new head gasket at 60,000 miles. Your best bet is to buy from a private party or get a warranty from a CPO car. Finding the former owner of a dealer car is difficult, plus you may not get cooperation from them but it sounds like you have had success. Saabs tend to be really good or really bad, we have found no in betweens. The dealers will always be able to access the dealer repair records on any car with the VIN number, so you don't necessarily have to track down the owner; at least you know what problems were bad enough for a service visit. good luck.
