Had a frustrating visit to the dealership this week...

I've been told that the springy noise in the clutch pedal is normal for the 9-3ss. I was a bit infuriated by this comment so I found three other 9-3ss on the lot and they all indeed had the springy noise. The service rep said it's engaging something (that's the noise I hear) -- can't remember his terminology -- so the clutch will activate. "They all do it" were his words. Do I just consider this one of the infamous Saab quirks? Anyone else deal with this noise and alleviate it?

Also, I made an appointment to have the XM commander unit installed...surprise, none in stock after "they had so many...I guess we sold out." Wouldn't proactive service suggest we check stock before the appointment?

They also replaced the tire where they originally put on one with several thousand miles after I noticed the wheel had curb rash on it when I bought the car. This time, they put on another wheel altogether and that wheel has obvious scratches in various places. All I want is a new wheel that matches the other factory-fresh wheels -- and a new tire -- for a new car. Is that so hard? The service writer said...call your salesman, I'm just following instructions.

They also found no rattles where I noticed them. And low-and-behold, I promptly heard them again as I was pulling out of the dealer lot.

So this utlimately cost the dealer two days in an Enterprise rental...to basically fix nothing and not install the XM. Smart. Oh...they did reinstall the window surround on the rear door where it was bowing -- that seems OK. So add that to the list of accomplishments.

Let's hope this is not a sign of things to come...but I feel better for ranting a bit (thanks for your indulgence!). I still love my SportCombi though.
