I agree, both stereos in the SS for '07 are vastly improved from prior years--in terms of both functionality and sound quality. Both units look the same (pictures can be seen on the global saab site). Either system is a good choice.
IMHO the base system sounds pretty good and the BOSE just takes it to another level (more precise and even coverage of the entire frequency spectrum across the board)--truly a premium system.
Both systems have plenty of bass -- a complaint of prior stereos and the
Bose option does not have to be bundled w/ other options (tho it does cost ~$900).
Overall, it looks like they did a good job on this particular change. It appears the '07 units would not be compatible w/ earlier dashes since the dash for '07 has been completely redesigned (looks good to me...fewer useless buttons...fewer displays to lose pixels etc).
