Re: Indy Mechanics & 9-3 SS? Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Indy Mechanics & 9-3 SS?, Dan ![]() |
Yes, the indy mechanic needs a couple of additions to their Tech 2 scan tool called CANdi box, a software program called TIS 2000 and a hardware dongle/key.
I assume he already have the Tech 2 scanner otherwise he is not a Saab indy anyway.
The CANdi box is a must to read and reset fault codes and make changes on the 9-3SS and SC.
But to be able to hook up the Tech 2 with CANdi box to car and read/reset codes plus read live data, you have to have a security clearance logged in your Tech 2 and that security clearance can only be loaded by hooking up the Tech 2 to the PC program TIS 2000. You only get the security clearance per session so the next time the car is back you need to ask for it again.
This is what automakers have concocted to keep owners from having their cars worked on by any other than the dealer.
Saab is fairly easy though compared to Volvos which is a nightmare and many seasoned Volvo mechanics are pulling the plug and take early retirement instead of investing in this new technology.
