I recently helped drive my Dad's 2004 9-3 SS 2.0 t from Cleveland to Baltimore and noticed that Mapquest said the trip was 370 miles while the trip odo said 360. That's about 2.8% error. The funny thing is that the trip odo did not directly correspond with the SID trip time calculator distance. Another thing I noticed was that the speedo read about 3 mph high compared to construction speed radar signs.
On my 2006 9-3 SC 2.0 T, the SID tends to read about 5% high on fuel economy, but then I thought the trip odo error could be accounting for all but the remaining 2.2% of this. I also noticed on this car that the trip odo takes longer to reach 1 mile than the milemarker posts.
Has anybody done careful measurements so that we know the real fuel economy, speeds, and distances we're driving? I also wonder how the SID and speedo indicators are linked. I understand that there may be some variation from car to car, but it shouldn't be too drastic.
