Adjusted Xenon headlamp beams.... Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Wed, 29 Nov 2006 17:12:09 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have not been too pleased with the xenon headlamps on our 9-3SC, my biggest complaint being they seemed to shine too low thus limiting forward visibility. Before our recent 1500 mile round trip over Thanksgiving weekend I raised the beam elevation of the headlamps. I am now happier with their aim and did not receive any flashing brights from oncoming drivers either.
Each head lamp has two recessed hex adjustment screws located in the radiator cowl which require an 8 or 10mm allen wrench. I noted the location of the hex points on these screws, then carefully turned each screw head 1/6 revolution clockwise. A noticeable improvement in the height of the vertical beam cut-off as seen on the garage wall.
They are much better now than as received from the factory. I may give then another 1/6 turn for additional elevation increase, but any more than that would almost certainly affect oncoming drivers.
This may help others with similar complaint regarding xenon beam aiming.
