Successfully installed a Motorola IHF1000 Bluetooth hands free kit with instructions from provided by another Saab owner (hmssaab). No need to wait for Saab USA to offer a Bluetooth intigration kit. You can do it now.
Here are my notes:
Purchased IHF on Ebay for $169 ($380 at Best Buy...).
Purchased hands free adaptor cable from GenuineSaab for $19.60.
Saab ground (black) to Motorola ground (black).
Saab mute (yellow) to Motorola Mute (yellow).
Saab power (red) to Motorola power (red).
Saab keyed power (red/blue) to Motorola ignition power (green).
Saab line output signal (grey/white) to Motorola line audio + (orange).
Saab line output ground (blue/white) to Motorola line audio - (blue).
Saab mic low level output (orange) to Motorola mic (yellow)
Saab mic ground (green) to Motorola mic ground (black)
I mounted the Motorola interface module near the cup holder.
The Main IHF1000 control module is under the center console.
The sound quality of the audio coming in through the Saab speakers is very good using the Motorola line level audio wires (blue and orange). Though I used the blue and orange wires, I had to make a one time audio adjustment using the "increase volume" button on the interface module to set the default audio level of the line level audio at maximum volume. Do this when the ignition is turned on but not while in a call if you want the new volume setting to become the unit's default setting. After making this one time adjustment, there is not a noticable difference in audio levels between the phone call and the radio or CD player.
The outgoing sound quality according to everyone I talk to is very good, and I have tested this numerous times by calling my wife. My wife could not be happier with her new capability. We use new Motorola Razr phones.
You can store 20 voice command phone numbers in the IHF1000.
The IHF voice recognition is excellent for both voice dialing and digit dialing.
The only issue I have experienced is that the IHF1000 sends a test mute to the Saab radio when the ignition is turned on. This test mute interferes with the Saab radio boot-up process and prevents the Saab radio amplifiers from turning on. To overcome this, I must then turn the radio off then on again. Not sure how to correct this minor issue. It does not alway occur.
