I had a perfectly good 1999 Saab 9-3 and traded it in for a 2003 Saab 9-3 with a host of minor annoyances.
1. Emergency brake (parking break) got stuck in the locked position. Saab replaced under warranty (TSB)
2. Driver side door rattles
3. Seat belt column rattles
4. Dash rattles - vents, SID, center speaker
5. Driver side speaker rattle
6. Poor brightness on Xenon headlights
7. Slight vibration throughout the car when accelerating and driving at about 50 Mph.
8. CD player skipping
9. Mystery ticking sound in the console realted to the ACC (sounds like a clock).
No matter how hard I work with the dealership, the rattles still appear.
So far nothing mechanically wrong with the engin but a lot of minor issues which have me frustrated.
I would stay clear of the 2003 and see if you can get into a 2005. I understand that alot of these issues have been worked out.
