People said the same things about the 86 9000, the 94 900 and the 99 95. There is truth in all of it. One saving grace it that some parts are getting much less expensive. A transmission costs a small fortune, but the electronic stuff is getting pretty reasonable. The computer (rear electrical center) that controls the back half of the car is only about $300 whereas these kinds of components used to be 2 or 3 times that much.
All of the above mentioned cars are still found on the road. IMHO The car is worth between 12k and 15k depending on many many factors. That includes the price of a superior extended warranty that covers more than just the big stuff. I might go 16 or 17 for an aero with a really good extended warranty and clean interior/ no accidents or rust etc. I live in a desert. I don't know if these cars rust or not.
