First, congratulations on your purchase. I hope you like your '03 as much as I like mine.
Regarding the sunroof switch--Mine does open and close automatically when I slide the switch back (or press it to raise the rear portion) but I can't say that I've noticed a detent position in either direction. Maybe some others will have an idea why yours doesn't do this.
You can reset the SID yourself without any harm.
The headlight switch in U.S. cars is a compromise to allow for daytime running lights. When your car is running (or the ignition is in the "on" position) straight up means the headlights are on. Note, however, that when the car is running the headlights are always on regardless of the position of the switch. The parking lights will function when the car is off and the switch is in the second position. You need to have the switch in the headlights on position (straight up) in order to use your high beams or fog lights--you can only flash your high beams in the other positions. Confusing, isn't it? Supposedly you can have a dealer change all this via Tech II by setting the headlights and foglights to the "ROW" (Rest of World) setting. I'm going to see if my dealer will do this the next time I take mine in.
