Hello,

I just bought a 9-3 Saab 2003 model with 40K miles about 2 weeks ago. There are some funny noises coming out of the car when I first turn it on, especially when it has been sitting around for a day or two (i.e. cold start).

1) There is a funny noise that seems to be coming from within the center of the dashboard - it is a periodic sort of noise, I want to say it almost sounds like shift registers. It could also be a fan, though I don't think it's the fan for ventilation as the noise doesn't go away if I shut off the AC fan. The noise dissapears on its own after about a minute or so, and does not seem to come back once the car is moving/warm, even if I turn it off and then on again.

2) There is another sound which seems to come from the front of the vehicle, it is almost like a clunk of some sort, again when I first start the car and start driving, particularly if I turn the steering wheel. I seem to hear it only once, and it disappears afterwards unless I shut off the engine and start it up again.

Any idea what either of these noises are? I bought the car from the dealer and it was supposed to have undergone inspection for the CPO process. I did not hear either of these sounds the two times when I test drove it, obviously because they had turned it on and drove it earlier, so it wasn't a cold start...

Any help or advice would be much appreciated!
