First of all the course was extremely short and not exactly challenging. Second of all he wasn't really pushing it and from the inside of the car it looks less impressive than from the outside. Third of all it's impossible to do real drifting in a FWD. Yeah, you can pull the hand brake and do a bit of pretend sliding, but you can't do it like it's shown in the clip.
Cipher your old RWD VW may be able to go sideways, but that's also what it'll do all by itself when it's slippery outside. The point with the XWD is that you can make it power slide if you want to, but if you want it to be steady as a rock and not slide it'll do that too. Basically the best of both worlds. FWD stability and safety with the fun of RWD and better traction than both.
Of course it's not everyone who prioritize handling and performance. The 2.0T will probably be the best choice if fuel economy is more important for you.
