I was quoted this Memorial Day weekend. Retail for an Aero sedan w/manual transmission was $32,800 + 550 cold weather + 1195 touring + 875 trans/prep for a total of $35,420. They offered a supplier discount because I work for 3M...although I don't know if 3M has a supplier discount or not, and according to our website, there's none listed. I wasn't going to argue with the guy. That knocked it down to $34,044. Customer loyalty discount of $1000 and customer cash of $3000 for a total of $30,044.
The main reason I didn't buy was that they continually wasted my time every time I was there. Within 5 minutes, I told them exactly what I wanted, and the price I wanted to pay (below $30K), and the salesman kept trying to sell me a station wagon, an automatic, red instead of black - whatever he was trying to get rid of on his lot. Each new proposal was 10 minutes of waiting for him to come back from "talking to the owner" with some deal I never asked for. He mentioned huge fictitious fees for transporting from another dealership. The final straw was him completely low-balling the trade-in on my current Saab - he just wasn't interested in making a deal for the car I wanted, yet dragged me through three painful hours anyway.
I ended up buying an '06 Aero with 11K miles from a private seller, and strangely enough, we're trading cars - he's taking my 97 900SE. Not quite a 1-to-1 trade, but we're both making out pretty well.
