Loose door stop mount..... Posted by MI-Roger [Email] ![]() ![]() |
My wife told me tonight "There is a problem with my car", a 2006 9-3SC, "Let me back it out of the garage so you can see what it's doing"
After backing it out of the garage she opened the driver's door and said the door makes a clicking sound. Then she pointed to the mounting plate for the door stop strap and said she though it was loose.
Boy was that an understatement! The top screw was clearly loose, the bottom screw had backed out so far it had almost fallen out of the door jamb!
It took longer to find the correct Torx bit than it did to tighten the two screws (second bit I tried) but I am surprised they were so loose. I wonder if there is a harmonic frequency being generated within the car that caused them to loosen? I drive the car ocassionally and had never noticed it before, and the car has not been near any one with tools for any type of service in over 6 months.
Simple, but strange.
