I'm a current owner of a 2000 9-3 SE. And I'm considering the purchase of a 07 60th ANV. Edition. I drove the car and really liked it. The one thing that bothers me is that the preformance numbers for my old SE manual appear to better than those for the new O7' with six speed manual, even though the new car has 5 more hp and about 15 LBS more torque. Subjectively, the new car felt a bit faster, but a lot of magazines have very high numbers for new style 9-3s with 210hp (like 0-60 in over 8 seconds!) Considering, that my 2000 High Output with manual hit the 1/4 in 15 and 0-60 in about 6.8, I'd expect the new car to be at least as quick. It seems that magazines always get poor numbers for any SAAB, and it's misleading. I drove a 07' GTI 5 Door and the two cars seem equally as quick, yet the GTI is clocked at 6.2 and high 14's, both weigh nearly the same and have almost the same amount of torque and HP (Saab has slightly more). It's not too big of a deal, but rather an annoyance/ego thing. My fiances' jetta 1.8T with 180hp is clocked at 6.8, and for sure sure it's no where near as fast (overall) as the either saabs. Is it me or are Saabs consistantly underrated in magazines and reviewed infrequently? There is no way my brother's previous car ( 1999 bmw 323i 170hp) is quicker than the 07 2.0 T with a six speed. I've driven both. 8 just seems flat out wrong as does a 16 sec 1/4 mile and the car felt every bit as quick as the GTI, couldn't be more than .5 seconds slower from any speed. Does anyone have accurate numbers, or favorable review of a newer saab 9-3 2.O t with six speed?
