I just picked up a 2007 SportCombi 2.0T in Chili Red. I really like it. In comparison with my wife's 9-5 Aero wagon, it's a tad smaller but not by much. It feels faster and sportier but it's really just less refined. The engine has plenty of "get up and go" but does have a bit of turbo lag in comparison with the Aero or my 1999 9-3SE slushbox. I am happy I got the stick which is so easy. I really love this car. In 2007, the changed the interior quite nicely.
I found that, although my 2002 Aero wagon gets the best gas mileage with 92/93 octane, this one seems to like the recommended octane of 90. It will work with 87 on up but it seems the happiest with respect to gas mileage with 89-91. My guess is that the car won't take advantage of the higher octane and could detune with the lower octane. Not a big deal. I am getting 27-28mpg on primarily back roads.

I found the stereo acceptable and much easier to use than the older ones and I like the new HVAC control knobs.

Some caveats on the size. If you find yourself trading "favors" which is rides to or from preschool, sports events, etc, then you may be squished. We have two kids but find ourselves squeezing another into the back. It's possible but not fun. This is the 9-5 Aero we're talking about which is slightly wider than the SportCombi. Three small people should fit across the back of the 9-3 SportCombi as well but it will be tight. If you can live with that, you'll LOVE the car. I know I do.
