One friend of mine threw Consumer Reports in my face in 1999 when I bought my first Saab. The Saab was great however and when he bought an Acura it broke down and continues to do so. Currently, my Tom Waits CD is stuck in his CD player. Will I ever get it back? Who knows. I bought a 2002 Aero for my wife and that has been great. I JUST picked up a 2007 SportCombi as I couldn't pass up the deal. I got a fair trade on my 1999 9-3 with 115K miles as well. I am happy. I have a feeling that 2005+ model years are the better 9-3 years but it's just a gut feeling.
Another friend of mine who is more of a gentleman got tired of his Camry breaking and picked up a BMW of all things. The BMW is a rather nice car and hasn't broken on him at all. He is the only friend with a BMW that hasn't broken however. It's still a nice car and I am happy for him. He's quite happy too.
