I would say that most Saturn buyers are non-status-driven types, just looking for decent transportation, but there are people who are enthusiasts and like to drive Saturns. Some even race them. The SC2 and SL2 were great handling little cars with decent power-to-weight ratio and great fuel economy. The L Series and ION kind of lost the way a little bit, (althought the ION Red Line is sweet), but have you seen the new Saturns? The whole line-up is beautiful now, from the SKY to the AURA to the OUTLOOK to the upcoming ASTRA. I would say many Saturn buyers are people who would buy a Saab if they could afford to, but honestly, the AURA makes it difficult to justify the cost of a 9-3 or 9-5. R&T got 0-60 mph in 5.9 seconds with the 3.6 L V6 and 6 spd automatic and you can get a mild hybrid version as well. Go to the Saturn website and you'll see how far they've come.
Saturns have historically been cheap to repair and easier to service. That's not a bad thing. This makes a big difference if you hold onto a car for a long time.
