Thanks for your comments guys. After performing searches here I was 99.9% certain that both front and rear emblems were held on with adhesive only. Usually people mention the front emblem and nothing specific to the rear one. I don't know what the service advisor is trying to pull by telling me that the rear emblem is held on by fasteners. He knows that I am a Saab enthusiast, car nut since the late 70's, and subscribe to alldatadiy for all of the bulletins.
I can tell that their tech must have pried just a little too hard near the bottom of the emblem and he probably wasn't being careful enough with whatever he was using as a fulcrum. The concave appearance of the metal right beneath the emblem is so slight that probably only a nut like myself would notice (paint was not damaged). Having a paintless dent repair specialist attempt to tap this back out might cause more problems. Also, I have not removed the trunk lid liner to even see if this area can be accessed from the back of the panel.
