I am not sure about your specific car, but my 1990 9000 must be pressure beleed, if any fluid is let out of the system the thing MUST be pressure bleed, you can not just hit the pedal and pump-bleed it.
This is due to the design of the breaking / clutch system.
I would recomend going to autozone, buying a cap and seal and tire valve stem, and making your self a simple tool. Drill a hole in the cap and cut a small hole in the seal, pull the tire valve stem through, take the new tool, and replace the existing cap on your brake/clutch cap. have one person apply 3-7 psi pressure (not more or it will "boil" and just blow fluid around inside the reservoir and out around some small hole that there may be around the valve stem in the drilled cap)
Have the second person open / close the bleeder.
You should be fine afterwards.
I THINK you want to do this with the DOWN on the floor (to keep air from becoming trapped in the master cylinder)
Good luck.
