I don't have 17" wheels, but that shouldn't make much of a difference if you use my method. I do not find it necessary to use ramps. The filter is changed from the topside, so all you have to do underneath is to remove the drain plug, drain, and replace. I just drive the car up onto a single pair of 2 x 6 studs, maybe 30" long, with a 30° bevel cut on one end to allow the car to ride onto them easily. Yeah, it only raises the car about an inch and a half, but I find that sufficient to get a 7 qt. drainpan underneath and remove the drain plug (15MM wrench). To change the filter, I remove the (3) torx screws that secure the plastic cover on the top front of the engine, then use a 32MM (or 1-1/4") socket to remove the oil filter cover. The filter will come out with the cover. Lube the o-rings on the new filter, snap it into the cover, then insert the whole assembly back into the block and tighten.(just snugly, the cover is only plastic). I find changing the oil on my 9-3 (4-cyl) to be neater and easier than most cars.
