I removed and disassembled the radio in my 2007 (300 series premium system) to see if I could splice a plug into the aux-in on the faceplate and then run it under the center console to the cubby box. It's a no go. THe circuit for the aux in is under a soldered-in-place board which makes up the entire front control/button console of the radio. I'm sure I would destroy it in the process of getting to it for the circuit board splice. Maybe someone very experienced in working with circuit board repair could do it...but not me.
So I've accepted that I have to look at an ugly cord going across my dash to my iPod. Very irritating. Plus annoying to have to disconnect it and hide it every time I park (vs just leaving it in the console if there were a input jack there.
Nick.
