Thanks for the warning! After reading your post I checked the rear pads on my '06 9-3SC with 22,000 miles. They'll be down to the metal in a few weeks! My 1995 900S made it 95,000 miles before touching any of the brakes!
I don't want to spend a fortune right now, so I just ordered a set of EBC Greenstuff pads for $59 incl. shipping. The rotors are down to .437" thick which should be OK for a while I hope. According the the WIS, new rotors are .472" thick, min. thickness after resurfacing is .413", and min. permissible thickness is .394".
I took a quick look at the front pads and they appear like new. I wonder if short lived rear brake pads are a result of Saab going to ceramic pads in the front?
