I suppose it's possible. I would prefer a tool to avoid stressing the drivetrain unnecessarily.
Seems that the leak is not as bad as I first thaught and will postpone the fix. I washed the area of the engine and will follow the development for a while. The engine was slightly overfilled with oil when I bought the car; it might be that leak has stopped now that the oil level is at max on the dipstick.
