....I had one....then a '99........then an '07......
We've moved on, but I do miss styling-definitive hatches and
heavy steering from the previous two. Heavier steering gave me
the feeling it would be hard to hurt you inside the tank.
I even miss the notchy shifter from the '79. That made me
feel I was actually accomplishing something when I ran the
occasional successful faster shift.
The '79 was a far bigger van than the newer ones but if
I were ever tempted (and had the cash to keep an old Saab, it would
be a convertible. Where kept, they still look fresh and upmarket.
