European Delivery is back in 2009

I just noticed on saabusa.com that Saab is revamping their IDS program. I saved something like $6K doing this on my 9-3 in 2006. There is a post here on the BB of my experience. Consider doing it if you're planning a European vacation next year (good luck with that exchange rate, though). The main issues I had with the IDS were two: 1) Swedish plates/reg barely made it to Vienna in time for me to pick up the car; and 2) it took over 9 weeks from the time I dropped it off in Hamburg to see it at Continental Motors in Oceanside. They had the car in Customs for over two weeks -- it had arrived in Pt.Hueneme after 7 weeks, and Saab couldn't even tell me where the car was. You can't blame the dealer for this -- they were completely out of the loop. Cars generally only spend a day or two sitting in Customs. Hopefully they will make this tracking a lot better with the new program.
Definitely a kick to drive your new car in Europe -- especially German roads, which I believe must be the best in the world (?). If you can, stay long enough to break the car in so you can check it out on the autobahn/autostrada/autowhatever.
Be forewarned about East Europe delivery -- you don't want your new baby stolen and sold to some Russian gangster.
Oh, the car has only 12K miles on it, is running great, and for the record is a 2.0T sedan (parchment silver).
