yesterday morning when i started the car, i heard a sounds from the rear of the car. it was loud enough to startle and sounded like a bird or ball hit the back of the car or maybe something was trying to get in/out of the trunk. kind of a mix between a "pop" and a "thump". it was occuring in a periodic interval about once every 1.5-2 seconds. i kept the car running, opened the trunk, and noticed the outer two speakers in the trunk top were shaking each time the noise occured. i turned off the car, the noise stopped; restarted the car, the noise started again. i then kept the radio off and the noise went away. radio back on, i tried switching between the radio, CD, and aux inputs and the noise continued. the noise remained at the same decible level regardless of radio volume setting. the radio worked fine otherwise (could control volume levels and hear music normally, but with this popping over top of it) finally, i gave up and left the radio off so i could run errands. throughout the morning, i kept checking and turned the radio back on to see if it went away and it did not. after about 4 hours or so, i turned the radio back on and the noise was gone.

the only thing different that morning was the fact that i slid a large box in the trunk. it fit between the speakers in the center of the trunk, and reached the top of trunk. i assumed i bumped the speakers when sliding it in but could not find any lose wires, etc.

the noise is gone, but seems odd it just went away. any thoughts on the culprit? i assume it will return at some point and want to start tracking things down now if possible.

the car is a 2006 9-3 aero with the stock 300w package and no other modifications to the stereo.

many thanks in advance.
