Well, with all of my recent griping about Saab's quality and features, I drove an XWD Combi yesterday and was pretty darned impressed. From the dealership you can easily drive up a long, steep, windy hill and I think the salesman was going to toss his cookies due to my aggressive driving. We even encountered a car coming downhill around a blind curve left of center, so I had a chance to practice an abrupt avoidance turn at high speed in a turn. I drove a standard Combi Aero later in the day and noticed a huge difference in the way the wheels came unglued in high G turns. The XWD is definitely impressive.
Surprisingly, considering car sales to be down in this area of the country, the dealer is not willing to move on price of the XWD so I will not be able to lease one...even with my company footing the bill. I still have a budget to work within. I'm thinking of playing hardball and just waiting them out...or just leasing a normal Combi Aero and after 27 months when the market is saturated with XWD they will negotiate price...but that's a long time to wait.
I'll upload photos of the XWD to my member profile shortly. It pretty much looks like a standard Combi Aero other than the "Unique 17 inch Alloy Wheels."
