I have an 06 vert and had the same questions when first purchased. When the top is down I use a soft cloth that has been soaked in plain water and rung out to wipe the surfaces down. I haven't found the need to use any type of detergent or soap. Due to the matt appearance of the interior paint finish I have not waxed the hard tonneau but do wax the door window sills once a year. I think waxing these surfaces is just a matter of preference.
