Nice work! So the flap is pretty much always locked, unless you flip the switch? A momentary contact I presume. That makes perfect sense; why unlock/lock the flap every time you use the keybob. I haven't used a 555 since I was a kid some thirty-odd years ago. IIRC, it will run off of 12 volts OK? No need to reduce to 5 volts. I assume you're driving a relay with the 555 as I would think the solenoid draws far to much current. I've been waiting for someone to figure out a fix to get the lock to work off of the BCM, but I'm starting to think that's more than just a missing connection somewhere and your method works now!
About the sagging rear window surrounds; mine both started to droop w/i 6 mos. of ownership on my 2006 2.0T SC. I just pried them down a bit, ran a bead of clear RTV along the top inside edge, even right over the piece of double-sided tape from the factory. I used spring clamps with soft pads to clamp them in place while the adhesive cured (doors open). It's been fine since then (maybe 18 mos. ago).
