It's certainly worth a shot asking for the sales manager and explaining your displeasure with how you were treated. Or maybe call the general manager and ask him to have the sales manager explain why his staff treated you the way they did. I mean ripping up paperwork in front of a customer and questioning a customers integrity about their previous purchases are two practices I'm sure they don't encourage.

Let the dealership karma rest on this rude salesperson's shoulders by insisting that if with a second try, new figures can be agreed upon, that no part of the commission goes to this rude fellow. This always irks car folks a little as whether a customer likes you or not, a salesperson is generally entitled to a part of the commission of a returning customer and it always makes a major stink for a sales manager to have to explain why a sales person is being shut out or a deal.

The fact the the fellow has worked the dealership for 31 years tells me he's likely from the "old school" of car salesmanship and needs some more current training to accommodate a more enlightened customer, such as most Saab buyers.

It's not that a salesperson shouldn't try and fish a customer out for expected trade in values and purchase prices, it's that if the customer doesn't go for it they shouldn't act childish and offended (tearing up the paperwork), but should at least try an accommodate the customers wishes.

Take it up a level or two and see what happens. Do mention that you are a long time customer and were very disappointed with the lack of respect you received.
