Is your car out of the pre-paid service (3 year 36,000 miles)?
factory service scheduals changed on the 9-3 sport sedans over the years.
on 03-05 the 30,000 mile service was a main/intermediate service. from 06 and on the 30,000 mile is just an intermediate service. They moved the main service part to 20,000, 40,000 etc...
As far as JustinHiFi saying he adds the serpentine belt. The serpentine belt is already schedualed in the SAAB maintenence book at 60,000 miles. SAAB has recommended that for years. The 4cyl sport sedans belt will usually make chirping and rattle noises before 60,000 miles when they start getting dry and stretching. Its not going to break, its just annoying, so I would recommend changing it at 30,000 miles. they are very cheap and easy to replace compared to old 9-3s or 9-5s
For my customers I usually just tell them to follow the service book and do an extra oil change in between services. The car has long life coolant and transmission oil which should not need service until 100,000 miles. The brake fluid should be change every 4 years unless you live somewhere very wet. And rotate the tires often. I see more tire problems due to lack of rotation on these cars. For awile SAAB took the tire rotation off the service scheduals. They have readded the rotations every 10,000 miles. I would do it every 5,000 miles if it was my car. If you have good tires (not el cheapos) they can last a long time with proper rotations.
The best thing you can do to maintain your SAAB is find a technician who knows these cars. A tech who knows these cars will know what problem areas to look at during the servicing and will be up to date with all the known problems and service bullitins for your vehicle.
