Carfax can be wrong. It does not disclose any customer pay issues. What do i mean by this. Lets say the car was flooded and for whatever reason the owner paid for it out of his own pocket. BINGO no carfax report. I have also seen some used car dealers tweaking the report to eliminate bad data. Another issue with car fax is that you may see multiple items listed. Some of those are simply the state reporting an emmsions test. Most if not all vehicles repurchased or repo'd for that matter are taken out of state for resale. This is not news. IRIS only shows warranty work and cannot be taken literally. A claim that appears to be for an engine may only be a minor repair, this is because it depends on how the dealers warranty clerk submits the claim. Lets be honest the owner was told they were buying a buyback and nothing from that point forward would have made the customer nervous? GM buys cars back daily, some for good reason and some that have no basis in reality. They are supposed to make sure each vehicle is repaired before returning to service, but sometimes vehicles can get lost in the shuffle. If they cannot repair they crush them or part them out through a third party. Now to settle this POST, how can a salesman be qualified to make that decision. What qualifies as a lemon to you may not be a lemon to me and so on. If a vehicle re-enters service it is deemed to be fixed and ready for resale. I agree that Lemon laws are all over the place, but once again what qualifies as a lemon. I could go on and on.
