I tried to answer this question earlier..... Posted by MI-Roger [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: 93 sportcombi "ice light" LCD rear lamps, Gordy, Thu, 5 Mar 2009 19:41:12 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Apparently I included banned information in my reply last week and received two 'blocked message' alerts.
The "Ice Lights" were available as an accessory which owners could order from Saab in 2006. Price was around $400 for the set. These were lenses and reflectors only, the "Ice Lights" use the standard incandescent bulbs and not LED lamps. Apparently someone at SaabUSA forgot that headlights and tail-lights need DOT approval and the "Ice Lights" lenses were never submitted for DOT's review. Oops!
The result was that "Ice Lights" were immediately dropped as an accessory in the US but are still available in Europe, and I know of two European based Saab Parts and Accessory retailers who will ship to the US. Unfortunately, these lights now cost ~$400 per each! Without the astronomical shipping charges!
Have you checked to see if the 2008 or 2009 tail light lenses will fit on your car? While these have heavy black banding making them appear not as clear as the original "Ice Lights", they will be easier to obtain.
